Bela Fleck
Not very Celtic, but Bela is a banjo GOD, and the others (Futureman
and Victor Wooten) are no less incredible!
Boys of the Lough
One of the bands that we greatly respect and wished we could play
like!
Celtas Cortos
Galicia's answer to the Pogues! Some very nice Celtic-sounding stuff
from this band from Valladolid in Spain. (This site is in
Spanish.)
The Chieftains
A great site for a band that needs no introduction.
Mary Jane Lamond
Mary Jane Lamond has emerged at the vanguard of a Celtic cultural
renaissance, successfully reclaiming and reinterpreting an age-old
tradition. Singing exclusively in Scottish Gaelic, Lamond
simultaneously fuses pop and funk, with hand-made percussion,
Highland bagpipes, Irish bodhran and cello. The result is a meeting of
two distinct and dynamic musical cultures. The effect is nothing
short of stirring.
La Musgana
These guys came to Spokane in '96 and left us agape. This is not
their site (they don't seem to have one) but it IS in English and is
pretty informative.
The Paperboys
From Vancouver, B.C., the Paperboys have been playing since 1992 and
have made an impact wherever they wander with their blend of celtic,
bluegrass, world beat folk pop, which they describe as
"STOMP".
Spokane Music Scene
A page devoted to the growing and increasingly diverse Spokane Music
Scene. Saw a great band but just can't remember their name? Check it
out here!
Alan Stivell
A long-standing proponent of Celtic music and Breton culture, Stivell
has helped to put Celtic Music on the map with his 20-odd releases
over the last 30 years. His latest CD, "1 DOUAR", is a celtic
crossover masterpiece.
Tri Yann
A great Breton band that's been going since the early seventies. They
play a lot of Celtic and Rennaisance music, but can really rock!
(This site is in French.)
Terpsichore
A friend of ours who does some kickass techno music, and who has THE
COOLEST web site ever!
